The 2000 Millennium 50 cent coin has a unique printing fault. The horizontal and vertical bars within the St.Andrews cross at the top of the sail are depressed into the coin. Normally, the bars would be rising above the surface.
There’s also a noticeable difference in the Federation Stars. Also, the large seven-point star directly below the St Andrews cross is depressed. Normally, it would rise above the surface of the coin.
The 2000 Millennium 50 cent coins are said to be still commanding approximately $50 each in circulated condition and readily sought after by coin collectors.
So, next time you’re out on a hunt and dig up that fifty-cent coin, take a good look at it as it may very well be worth a lot more than you think.
